12 Passive Income Ideas from Home

1. Create and Sell Digital Products

I don’t know if you know already, but Digital Marketing is a booming industry right now with the prediction of growing to a 850 billion dollar industry in the next 7 years! According to Forbes, it is the best paid job you can do from home.

How does it work exactly? Whether it’s ebooks, online courses, stock photos, or printables, creating digital products can be a lucrative way to earn passive income. Once created, you can sell them repeatedly without ongoing effort. You can leverage different platforms to sell your products, such as Amazon, Social Media, your own Website or by doing Email Marketing.

2. Create a YouTube Channel or Blog

Building a following on YouTube or a blog by creating valuable content is a more long term oriented passive income idea, but super worth it in these digital times. Once you have a substantial audience, you can earn passive income through ad revenue, partnerships/sponsorships, affiliate marketing, or selling your own (physical or digital).

The best is to make a list of things you are passionate about as this will help you consistently create content as it will never bore you. You will always be enthusiastic about it! Examples are: travel, beauty, fashion, sports, business, health etc.

3. Affiliate Marketing

A great passive income idea from home is Affiliate Marketing. This business model is already around for many years, but has become more famous with Digital Marketing. How does it actually work? You basically promote products or services from companies through whatever platform you want (blog, social media, email), and earn commissions for every sale or lead generated through your referral links.

Did you know that over 86% of companies offer an affiliate program? The opportunity here is endless and the sky’s the limit! Check out my free Affiliate Marketing Beginners Guide.

4. Facebook Ad Agency

Another great passive income idea from home is starting a Facebook Ad Agency if you like social media, but don’t want to show your face. You basically run Facebook ads for small/local businesses such as bakeries, restaurants, gyms etc., who pays you for your services. It can earn you around 1000$ per client.

5. Amazon KDP

If you are more on the creative side of things, then you might want to dive deeper into Amazon KDP. It’s Amazon’s self publishing platform where you can sell your books to Amazon’s customer base. Amazon basically takes care of everything like printing, shipping, customer service etc. You just need to design your books and upload them.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a real author! With Amazon KDP, you basically create low content books with the help of Canva as they are easy and fast to create and create long term passive income from home as they can be sold endlessly. Examples are: journals, coloring books, kids activity books etc.

This beginner friendly KDP Amazon course helped me gain all the knowledge I needed to get started. It taught me how to research keywords that are not saturated yet, how to create the actual book, and upload it step by step to Amazon.

6. Network Marketing

Network Marketing, also known as MLM, is a business model that depends on person-to-person sales by independent representatives, often working from home.

As a networker you become an independent distributor for a company’s product or service. It usually requires you to build a team of business partners /salespeople to assist with lead generation and closing sales. You then earn commissions/bonuses from each sale you generate, but also from the sales your team generates (passive income).

What to look out for when joining a network marketing company is the compensation plan (obligatory monthly orders, de-ranking etc.), high/low ticket items, and the reputation of your upline (how supportive they are).

I outline all the pros and cons, my personal experience, and the companies I joined in my Free Passive Income Opportunities Guide.

7. Dropshipping

Another great passive income idea from home is Dropshipping. It’s a business model that allows you to sell products without having to hold any physical inventory yourself or be responsible for shipping them.

When a customer places an order on your Shopify online store, you then pass the info to the supplier/manufacturer who then ships the product directly to the customer.

8. Print on Demand

Print-on-demand means that you will partner up with print-on-demand providers who will handle the manufacturing and take share of the shipping of the products for you, such as printed shirts, cups, bags calendar etc.

You are solely responsible for the design and the provider then turns it into physical products as the examples mentioned above.

9. Amazon FBA

FBA stands for “Fulfillment by Amazon” and is a service offered by Amazon to sell your physical products hassle free.

You again have to keyword research first before deciding on what products you want to sell. Then you need to find a manufacturer and source your product yourself.

You then need to decide on how many products you are going to order (upfront investment). They are then being sent to Amazon fulfillment centers where Amazon takes care of the rest and charges a fee for it.

Once you listed your product, you start your PPC campaigns (pay per click) to being ranking your products in hope it gets seen and to make a sale.

10. Instagram Theme Pages

The newest hype on the Internet is starting an Instagram theme page. This is great for people who want to make money on social media without showing their face!

These accounts serve a specific niche with popular content that gets shared as the audience can relate to it, usually in forms of quotes, memes or reels. Niches such as health, wealth, spirituality, women in business, parenthood etc. are very popular.

The engagement rates are often high for these pages which results in great business opportunities. These pages earn money through promotions, shoutouts, advertising, affiliate marketing, consulting/coaching, digital or physical products. The more followers the higher the price you can ask.

If you are more on the finance side of things, and not such a big social media fan, then investing in dividend-paying stocks, mutual funds, or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can provide a consistent stream of passive income from home. As you build your investment portfolio, you can enjoy regular dividend payouts without actively managing your investments.

12. Rental Properties and Airbnb

If you own property, renting it out is a classic way to generate passive income. You can also explore short-term rentals through platforms like Airbnb, allowing you to earn money from your home or an extra property.
