What could you possibly be doing on a sunny day in Amsterdam? Of course, rent a boat in Amsterdam and float through the city’s canals, also called Grachten. But where to rent a boat in Amsterdam?

Checking different boat providers, comparing prices and finding out where the places are, is definitely nothing you want to spend your time with during holidays.

That’s why I am going to tell you my personal Top 3 boat rental places from where you can rent a boat in Amsterdam. This way, you won’t waste your time with hours of research.

Canal Motorboats

One of the oldest boat rentals with great pricing conditions is Canal Motorboats. It’s about 15-20min (by foot) far away from Central Station.

A maximum of 7 people fit in one boat and renting starts at 50€ for one hour. Every additional hour you add gets cheaper. So, the second hour costs 40€, the third hour 30€ and all the others 20€ each.

Make sure to make a reservation online upfront, especially during high season, as those boat spots are sold out quickly.

Boaty Boat

Boaty Boat is another great place, from where you can rent a boat in Amsterdam, with a pretty good deal. Renting starts at 79€ for 3 hours, depending on the time of the day.

Located in the south of the city, very close to the main attractions Heineken brewery and Albert Cuypmarket, it is very easy to reach.

The boats are open but have a kind of roof to protect you from the sun. It’s up to you what your personal preferences are and if you want to be directly exposed to the sun or kind of protected.

Sloepdelen

Another place, you can rent a boat from in Amsterdam, is Sloepdelen. I have done so for my birthday. However, I have to admit that I had a discount, thanks to a voucher I bought from Groupon.

This boat hire is the most expensive one out of all three, with 60€ per hour. However, you can sign up for a free membership and enjoy special offers, deals and prices as this company is not only present in Amsterdam but also in Haarlem, Leiden and Utrecht (in case you happen to be there as well).
